Ben has a big, big problem on his hands: His mysterious "friend" from Italy, Maria, is coming to visit him. Not sure exactly when, but he's thinking this is a perfect chance to break up with Amy. Except that when Ricky, Madison, and Lauren see him acting all funny in the hallway, they know something's up, and they all warn him not to hurt her. Ben gets so sick from all the pressure, he runs off to toss his cookies in the boys' bathroom.
But speaking of Amy, where is she? Oh, just playing a little hooky with her mom: The two of them took Robie and John off for a seaside getaway, mainly because George accused Anne of having someone else's baby. You know, because of the lack of father-son resemblance.
Back at Grant High, Grace and Adrian are discussing oral sex ... and Grace reveals that, contrary to what everyone else believes, she actually did do that with Jack. But let's just say it didn't turn out how she wanted it to, and, embarrassed, she broke up with him. Adrian then leads her to believe that Jack is dating somebody else, but really it's all a lie that Adrian and Jack cooked up together. See, Jack thinks that if Grace believes he's dating someone else, she'll want him more and try to get back together with him.
With all the drama going around, is it any surprise that our favorite Grant Highers suddenly all decide to skip school together? Yeah, that's right: When Jack, Ricky, and Ben all randomly decide they want to escape life's troubles and leave school for the day, Ashley, Adrian, Griffin, and Grace follow them out, and then so do Alice, Henry, Madison, and Lauren. But their plan goes awry when Dr. Bink, the new counselor, finds out. Joe kind of "sells" the info to her in exchange for his own lifetime immunity from punishment. Plus, he's got a bit of dirt on Bink herself: She apparently was fired from her old job for taking a student to prom. Plus, she got her doctor's degree on the Internet. Hmmm.
But when Bink takes action by calling all the students' cellphones, one by one, to tell them to come back to school, they ignore her and all end up on the beach together. Coincidentally, it's the same beach where Anne and Amy are vacationing, though the two paths never cross.
But what's supposed to be a perfect, carefree, school-free day heats up quickly. (What else is new?) First, Ricky and Adrian get in another one of their head-to-heads, but this time, Adrian reveals that her mom might be leaving for a new job in New York ... and leaving their brand-new house. Jack and Grace, meanwhile, take turns hurting each other: Jack reveals he made out with Madison (but nothing more, he swears), and then Grace says she and Jason "just kissed" at doctor camp. Suddenly Jack's bent out of shape.
But then things get a little more steamy when Ben's Italian "friend," Maria, appears out of the blue and leaps onto him by the water as all his classmates look on, stunned. At that moment, Ben's phone rings, and even though he's got a girl wrapped around him, he answers it. It's his dad, asking where the hell his new Mercedes is.
In fact, all the dads and Kathleen have shown up at Grant High to take their kids home. While they wait, George and Ruben talk about how Ricky should file for his rights to see John in court. Adrian's been pressing Ricky to do that for ages, but the issue's gotten more serious, now that Amy's disappeared with John for days and refused to answer Ricky's calls.
So later that night, after Ruben gives him a word of advice about his rights and also his responsibilities as a dad, Ricky shows up at George's to say he wants to see his son. George uses the house phone to call Amy. (She wouldn't take Ricky's calls.) When she does pick up, she's pretty frosty and tells Ricky she'll come home with John ... when she's ready.
Uh-oh. Do we smell a custody battle brewing?
