Walking back from campfire with Trent and Chloe and listening to them argue over what Dr. Rand is an actual doctor of, I started feeling pretty good about life. The air was warmer than usual and the cicadas were making noise like maracas rattling. The life cycle of a cicada lasts 17 years. They burrow underground as soon as they hatch. Then when they’re grown they tunnel to the surface and shed their skin, leaving their old shells on branches. When I was little I used to collect them.
 
We took the long way around camp feeling like the night bell would never sound to call us back to the cabins. Trent and Chloe had their arms around each other but for once it didn’t bother me. I was just happy to be with them both. Everything was pretty much amazing.
