25-year-old Nashville-based musician Madi Diaz comes by her eclectic sound honestly. Raised in Pennsylvania Amish country by a Peruvian mother and Danish father, Madi recalls she and her dad "would hang out in the living room and learn songs by bands like the Eagles and Alice in Chains. We'd pick parts to harmonize and sing our way through them, over and over. My dad would get so excited when he figured out something by Yes or The Mamas and Papas, then he'd let me pick my favorite Silverchair song or whatever I was obsessing over at the moment, and we'd learn it together, too. It was the best."
It's that lifelong attraction to song craft as well her deep-rooted affinity for contrasting types of music that Madi brings to her forthcoming full-length album and to her catchy holiday song, "I Hope That it Snows."
You can listen to "I Hope That it Snows" here in the ABC Family Sound Booth, and be sure to check out the 25 Days of Christmas page for a free download of the tune on December 8!
