Deposited as a baby on the doorstep of his aunt and uncle, the poor orphan Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) is banished to a closet under the stairs and treated like a servant. Then, when he is eleven, magic happens. His home is bombarded with letters—all invitations for Harry to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry…because Harry is not just any boy, he's the son of a witch and a wizard. His parents died trying to save Harry from the evil villain Voldemort and now it is time for Harry to claim his powers. Boarding a train to the other side of fantasy, Harry is befriended by the irrepressible Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and the studious and stupendous Hermione Granger (Emma Watson). Under the tutelage of Albus Dumbledore (Richard Harris) and the eccentric and sometimes frightening professors of Hogwarts, these three friends enter a supernatural world, where, through magic and daring they seek to learn if a courageous heart is a match for the powers of evil.
