Heaven returns home to her family's apartment and begins her mission to uncover the truth. With Cheryl and Otto's help, she copies some of her father's important computer files. She also overhears her father, Kogo, discussing something called the Marishi Protocol with his associate, Sato, as they look over documents stolen from Teddy's father. According to Teddy (Heaven's former fiance), Heaven IS the Marishi Protocol, but what does that mean?

They're about to get some answers. But just as Otto opens the stolen computer files, a security flag goes up, and Sato discovers that Heaven is a spy. He alerts Kogo, and Otto sends Heaven a text warning her to get out while she can. Unfortunately, Heaven's riding in a limo with her dad when the text comes through. She's trapped. Suddenly, a window smashes and there's Jake, riding his motorcycle alongside the limo. He calls to Heaven and she jumps out of the car and onto his bike. Off they ride, but Heaven has one stop to make -- she needs her ancestral sword, the Whisper of Death, which is back in her family's apartment.

Heaven sneaks in and is about to get the sword when one of her father's henchmen grabs her. She reaches for the weapon and it flies into her hands, as if by magic. With no time to think about what just happened, Heaven and Jake make it back to Jake's loft, where another surprise waits for them ....

Her name is Karen, and she's Jake's former fiancee. Heaven is crushed, but she doesn't have time to sulk. Severin has deciphered that the stolen documents hold the key to the Marishi Protocol. The problem is that they're in an ancient language -- and only one person can read them.

Heaven, Severin, and Cheryl go see Professor Tom Fleming (Warren Christie) who says the documents tell of three pieces of an ancient puzzle. Legend has it that when the pieces are joined together in a specific location, they'll bestow the power of the gods upon the bearer. Fleming says the three pieces include some ancient runes, an ancient mirror ... and Heaven herself.

Getting the runes is almost impossible, but Heaven just barely manages to steal them from the heavily guarded Japanese Consulate. Getting the mirror, however, proves to be deadly.

Meanwhile, another deadly enterprise is being carried out at Professor Fleming's store. Karen, Jake's "perfect" fiancee, sneaks up behind "Professor Smoky Eyes" and kills him. Seems Karen isn't who she says she is.

Heaven, Severin, and Jake are climbing a mountain in the Sierras to get the mirror, but just as they near the summit, something goes terribly wrong. A metal connector slips, leaving Jake and Severin swinging hundreds of feet in the air. Gripped with fear and guilt, Heaven looks into both men's eyes. Each man tells her to cut his rope, but she knows cutting a rope means certain death. But if she cuts neither, the connector will give way, and both guys will fall to their deaths. Suddenly, she makes her choice. She swings her sword and cuts a rope ...
