More than 20 years after its original airing, James Read is still widely known and recognized worldwide for his starring role of George Hazard in the epic 30-hour Civil War miniseries "North and South".
His first job as a television actor was as a series regular role in the now classic series "Remington Steele", and he later starred with Margot Kidder in the CBS series "Shell Game". Feature films in which he has had starring roles include "Beaches", John Sayles' "Eight Men Out", "Love Crimes" and "Walking Thunder".
Before moving to Los Angeles he studied acting in New York City, and learned his craft in several off-Broadway and regional theaters, including the Denver Center Theatre Company where he performed several leading roles over three seasons.
Born and raised in upstate New York, James started acting as a student at the University of Oregon where he graduated in 1976. He also earned a Masters Degree in Psychology from Pepperdine University in 1998. Not long ago Ken Davis was headed for jail, but he beat the charges thanks to some powerful friends. One of the consequences of his actions was losing control of Davis Farms to Dani. Now, it seems the powerful businessman's fiercest rival happens to be his very own daughter. He can't deny she's doing a great job, but Ken Davis will never be satisfied playing a backseat role in the business he built. He's a man who needs to be in control and there's no telling just how far he'll go to be on top. Can father and daughter run Davis together, or is a family feud brewing?
