AN ABC FAMILY ORIGINAL SERIES
cast
Genevieve Cortese
Born in San Francisco, Genevieve Cortese wanted to be an actress because, as she explains, "I love traveling and meeting new people and acting opens up doors to live in the now. I love the possibility that anything can happen in any moment with acting... that you have the opportunity to experience lives and adventures that you may not otherwise have." She studied drama and English at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and went on to perform in regional theater productions of A Midsummer Night's Dream, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Crimes of the Heart, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
She made her television debut as Kris Furillo in ABC Family's Original Series Wildfire, but when exactly did she learn how to ride horses? "I learned to ride from my mom. She is the ultimate rider," she says, "I learned a lot from her and a ton that I incorporate into the character of Kris." When asked what she likes most about playing Kris she says, "I love Kris's simplicity when getting her point across... I love that she has so much inside her head and heart and yet still manages to make what she is saying uncomplicated." And what does Genevieve (Gen to her friends) think about her handsome co-star... Wildfire? When filming the pilot "he was so well trained that as soon as 'set' was called his ears would prick up, and forget about the word 'action' he would break into a lope. I had to ask the crew to give me a silent cue! But he's a wonderful, gentle horse and we have a great relationship!" Kris Furillo has come a long way from her time in juvenile hall. Determined to put her past behind her, she has poured herself utterly and completely into the world of racing. She has gone from a novice jockey to a champion, riding Wildfire to a win at The Breeders Cup. But while her professional life is going strong, Kris still stumbles when it comes to her personal life. It took a lot for her to trust Kerry and his betrayal came as quite a shock. She feels that she has to win back Jean and Pablo's trust, but what about Kris' trust of other people? She and Junior have a history, but do they have a future? And she still has feelings for Matt that she can't ignore. Kris continues to grow as a jockey and as a young woman and she faces hurdles raging from getting Wildfire back into racing shape to pursuing new challenges and dreams, but when it comes to romance, one question rests on her mind and everyone else's... who will she choose?
