Jean's home, Pablo's back, and Raintree's days as a dude ranch are numbered. Yet everything is far from normal. Kris is struggling to balance her old life with her new one as a Davis-to-be, and Matt still isn't speaking to Junior. On the upside, Jean agrees to dump the dudes and make Raintree a racing ranch again. Matt convinces her to take the risk when he tells her that Dani is boarding Tigress Eye and two other horses at Raintree. What he doesn't tell her is that Dani's boarding her horses for free in exchange for half of their potential winnings. Jean panics when she finds out, but Matt convinces her that the best times they've ever had at Raintree were when they were willing to risk everything. Jean acquiesces, and Matt and Dani are in business together. (And that's not all, but more on that later.)
The big news is that Kris and Junior have set a date. They just don't seem to be able to stick to it. With Kris's responsibilities at Raintree and Junior's growing career as an entrepreneur, it begins to look like they'll never go through with it. Then they decide to get married on the coming weekend. That's the good news. The bad news is that now they have to tell everybody.
Kris blurts out the news to Ken. He acts pleased, but you can see the wheels turning in his head as he tries to find a way to tear them apart. Telling Matt and Jean doesn't go as smoothly. They want her to ride Flame in a race on the same weekend, but she says no and drops the bombshell. Jean is speechless, and Matt storms out. Kris goes after him. He tells her that if she's married to Junior she'll be on Davis's team, not Raintree's. Kris disagrees, but then things happen that make her wonder if Matt is right. ?
Being with Junior is a dream come true, but maybe it just doesn't work in reality. Kris gets a taste of Junior's rarified world, and she feels like a total outsider. She's willing to try, though. She even has lunch with Ken to try to break the ice. Then Junior starts spending more and more time on his business venture, and Kris begins to wonder if being with Junior means being alone most of the time. He tells her he's working for their future, and he surprises her with a beautiful diamond engagement ring. Kris softens, but when he stands her up to go out of town, her resolve begins to crack. She soon realizes that Ken's been orchestrating all of Junior's whirlwind business dealings. Kris shows up at the Davis house and warns Ken to stay out of their business. "Is that a threat?" he asks. You bet.
Back at Raintree, Kris tells Matt that she'll be able to ride Flame in the race after all, but he tells her he's hired another jockey. In fact, it's the jockey Kris brought in to cover for her while she and Junior get married. Kris begins to feel left out in the cold, and she wonders if becoming a Davis is what she really wants, after all.
That night, Matt and Dani sit on the porch and talk about the past. They reminisce about how simple things used to be -- before she had to fight to become her own person outside of her Dad's empire, and before he had to struggle to keep Raintree afloat. One thing leads to another, and they kiss. Will the exes get back together, or are they both just on the rebound?
