season one episode 8

Tyler Ford -- from way back in episode 3 -- returns to uncover the mysteries of his missing two days. This worries the Middleman, because if Tyler's memories come back, MM might have to deal with someone who will actually believe the odd happenings from that fateful day.

So, when Tyler shows up at Wendy's apartment looking for the girl he THINKS he flirted with at the Booty Chest, Lacey Thornfield, Wendy has to stand by while her best friend and her love interest attempt to start a romance.

Well, at least until ghosts show up at a local college campus.

A frat boy named Lewis recently had brain surgery that left him able to see and hear ghosts. He discovers this new ability when he's accosted by several ectoplasmic entities at a local sorority.

The Middleman can't do much at a girls-only house, so Wendy decides to go undercover as an out-of-town sister. At the sorority, Wendy meets an odd girl named Eleanor. Eleanor gives Wendy the grand tour and even introduces her to some of the house's officers -- all of whom, when viewed through special glasses, have ghost versions of themselves standing right beside them.

After some investigation, Wendy finds out that Eleanor isn't in the charter picture hanging on the wall. Ida checks her record, and Eleanor's list of scientific awards and achievements is a mile long. She has "future evil mad scientist" written all over her.

After breaking her special glasses, Wendy loses all ability to communicate with the ghosts, so team Middleman brings in a special translator -- Lewis, the frat boy with the sixth sense. Wendy and Lewis talk with the ghosts while MM checks out Eleanor's lab. There he finds a "quantum processor" that Eleanor is using to project the souls of her nerd friends into the sorority girls. Her plan is sheer elegance in its simplicity: Bring down the Greek system from the inside.

In the scuffle that follows, Eleanor projects herself into the Middleman and uses her new body to put Wendy off her trail.

At home, Wendy runs into Lacey and Tyler heading out on a date. But Wendy and Tyler seem to hit it off once again -- verbally sparring about zombie movies. As Lacey and Tyler leave, Lewis the ghost-hearing frat boy arrives with the ghost of the Middleman in tow.

Wendy, Lewis, and ghost MM head back to the sorority house, where Eleanor, in MM's body, is throwing the most debaucherous party the campus has ever seen. Wendy and Lewis stop the party, but Eleanor/Middleman escapes in the Middlemobile ... and the autopilot takes her/him straight back to MM HQ.

Now with even better equipment at her fingertips, Eleanor/MM's schemes become even grander. S/he locks down ops and sets the H.E.Y.D.A.R. to overload. Either Ida has to get to ops or Wendy has to destroy Eleanor's equipment before the H.E.Y.D.A.R. explodes and it's bye-bye city!

Team Middleman wins the race, and Wendy and Ida save the day. But there's still one thing left to tackle. Wendy goes home, fully intending to let Lacey know there's no hard feelings about her and Tyler. But before she can finish her sentence, Lacey reveals there is no more Tyler/Lacey.

Wendy immediately heads to Tyler's. Their chemistry is just as strong as ever, and they end their evening bonding over old and awful zombie movies.
