season one episode 6

The malignant nematode known as Pip steals Wendy's paintings to pass off as his own and doesn't even try to hide it. Lacey and Noser immediately seek justice, but Wendy just wants to take it on the chin. Not that she's OK with the plagiarism, but Pip's dad owns their building: The weasel could have Wendy and all her friends evicted with a single word.

Luckily for Wendy, a rip in the fabric of space pulls her away from the drama of Pip's maliciousness and Lacey's revenge schemes to a place where fighting evil is more black and white: Middleman HQ.

To find a machine capable of creating warp holes, Ida hooks up to the H.E.Y.D.A.R. Soon things go horribly, horribly wrong: Ida "blue screen" crashes and falls to the floor. Once revived, she reveals that there's another H.E.Y.D.A.R. operating nearby! MM and Dub Dub track down the unlicensed H.E.Y.D.A.R. to a college professor's home, but when they arrive, something is very off. The Professor doesn't seem to know his elbow from a H.E.Y.D.A.R., and his lab area is full of tables that are far too low for adult usage.

Enter Cindy.

Supposedly the 14-year-old daughter of the absent-minded Professor, Cindy is actually a rebel Clotharian soldier sent to Earth to prevent the boy band Varsity Fanclub from opening a wormhole to her home planet of Clothar. Like Cindy, the Varsity Fanclub members are also Clotharians in disguise, but they were banished to Earth after their regime was overthrown by the rebel fleet. Since then, they've been trying to open a wormhole to Clothar, so they can regain their former evil glory.

While debating what to do with Cindy, MM and Dub Dub get a message beamed from billions of miles away through the Interridroid 4000. High Aldwin, Supreme Commander of the Clotharian Rebel Fleet, orders our heroes to set Cindy free and let her complete her mission ... if not, the Clotharians will destroy Earth. The problem with that plan revolves around a mysterious little black box Cindy must use to stop Varsity Fanclub's wormhole technology. The only power source strong enough to operate it is Ida's battery -- and a single use of the black box will totally deplete Ida's cell, basically killing her.

But MM and Dub Dub have no choice; they have to set Cindy free. Which doesn't mean they can't try to find another way to stop Varsity Fanclub. They buy tickets to the concert and make their way backstage, just in time to see Cindy shot. She dies seconds before VF is to warp home, dooming Earth to total annihilation. The Middleman does the only thing he can do: He completes Cindy's mission for her, draining Ida's battery.

Having lost Ida, the Middleman refuses to let the entire day end in failure. He couldn't save Ida, but maybe he can help Wendy out with her Pip problem. At Pip's gallery show, MM sets off a truth bomb, forcing the plagiarizer to tell a live television audience that the paintings were actually all Wendy's.

With that small victory under their belts, MM and Dub Dub head to HQ to pack up Ida's lifeless body and say their goodbyes. But, as Wendy's about to leave, she notices a box from O2STK sitting in the front lobby. She checks it out -- just as a hand punches through, and a brand-new Ida in a different dress takes yet another potshot at her favorite target!

The Middleman rushes out, and the episode ends on the reunion, leaving us to wonder just how many versions of Ida are lying around at the Organization Too Secret to Know.
