After just one lesson with Sensei Ping, it seems the martial arts master has a new favorite apprentice: Wendy. At first, the Middleman is proud. But after Wendy mentions a few things that she learned more quickly than he did, a hint of jealousy leaks through our do-right avenger's calm, cool exterior. But there's no time for emotions -- Ida's getting reports of a zombie attack! The Middlepair suit up and head out.

Wendy's excited about her first zombie case, but she's also worried that it'll make her late for Art Crawl, the festival she holds each year with Lacey and Noser to highlight their building's tenants' talents. She knows Lacey will be crushed if she misses it.

When they find their zombie, it's not quite what they expect. Most zombies crave the flesh of the living, but the one they tranq and haul to MM HQ only seems to scream for one thing -- "TROUT!"

Ida's analysis pegs the source of the outbreak as a rare South American trout predator known as the Peruvian Flying Pike (PFP). The only known cure is derived from its venom.

MM and Dub Dub track down an illegal shipment of PFPs to a warehouse so full of them it could trigger trout zombie armageddon. They confiscate the fish, create an antidote, and cure their captured zombie -- all in time for Art Crawl!

Or so Wendy thinks. She does make it to the event in time to see Lacey get up onstage, but just as the performance is about to start, Sexy Bossman shows up with news of a second zombie attack.

They cure the second zombie and discover that her infection came from a can of !!!!, a new energy drink that smells to the Middleman remarkably like PFP venom and Trout. MM and Dub Dub get directions to the !!!! factory and zoom down in Wendy's smart car Middlemobile.

At the !!!! factory, our heroes encounter an evil villain named Mr.White, who became immune to PFP venom on a fateful trip to South America. He sics a bunch of zombified !!!! girls from the !!!! commercial on our retreating heroes.

But both MM and Wendy have now had training from Sensei Ping, so they have no problem working together to kick evil's butt and stop Mr.White and his scheme to turn the world into !!!!-drinking zombies.

With the evil dead vanquished, Wendy has but one mountain left to climb -- apologizing to Lacey. The discussion that follows isn't all candy and roses, but in the end, all is forgiven. Besides, they're already planning next year's Art Crawl theme: the supernatural.
