season one episode 3

Wendy and Lacey are finding that life after school isn't all that easy. Wendy has a job, but so far it isn't a paying one. And poor Lacey is actually applying for a gig the roommates swore they'd never take again: waitressing.

Just to make the money sitch worse, Wendy's car breaks down on the way to work. Luckily, a handsome young musician helps her out, but she still seriously needs new transportation.

Meanwhile, at HQ, the Middleman is antsy. Sensei Ping, the most lethal man alive and the only person who knows how to do the Wu-Han Thumb of Death, is arriving from China to turn Wendy into a killing machine. But the Middleman can't pick him up, because Ida got a red ball from O2STK (The Organization Too Secret to Know). "La Cage de Lumiere" — the most complicated diamond in the world, which creates a cage of light when illuminated — has been stolen.

The Middleman HAS to check that out, so it's up to Wendy to pick up the martial-arts master.

At the airport, things don't go so well. Wendy gets so bugged by all of Sensei Ping's criticism that she breaks the three rules she promised MM she would obey. And then they drive right into an ambush set up by Luchadores — Mexican masked wrestlers.

By the time the Middleman shows up, Wendy's been knocked out and Sensei Ping has been trapped in the only thing that can hold him — that cage of light from the very same diamond MM was looking for! Well, at least now MM and Wendy know who they're dealing with: El Maestro De Ceremonias and his ruthless associate El Comelon. The wrestlers, who have a decades-old blood feud with Sensei Ping, have been trying to capture him for years. Worse, if Ping isn't rescued quickly, his secret martial-arts society, the Clan of the Pointed Stick, will send assassins to kill everyone responsible — including the Middleman and Wendy.

MM benches Wendy and sets out to save his old master. But Wendy's not having that. After the Middleman is kidnapped, she ignores Ida's advice to leave the country and announces she's going to save the two men. Ida scoffs. As if a newbie like Wendy could fly the Middlejet (they have a Middlejet?) to the wrestlers' secret hideout at the Dread Pyramid of Itzilichlitlichlitzl and battle hundreds of masked Luchadores. But Wendy's up for it. Her dad was a pilot, and she can fly any crate with wings and an engine.

She gets to the Dread P. of I. just in time to save the Middleman and free Sensei Ping from the cage of light. Unshackled, Ping blasts through every last bad guy, until he reaches El Maestro De Ceremonias — and dooms him to the WU-HAN THUMB OF DEATH!

Back home, the Middleman tells Wendy that she impressed Sensei Ping … and him too. MM smiles as he hands Wendy her very first paycheck — and the keys to her very own Middlemobile.
