Lacey ... had a sex dream ... about PIP.

And both she and Wendy are weirded out by it. But they're more weirded out by Noser's disappearance -- he didn't even show at their party! Wendy's called to work, so Lacey has to search for Noser alone.

At Middleman HQ, Wendy's eyes light up when she sees stakes -- she's wanted to hunt vampires since she was a little girl. But the mission isn't exactly what she's hoping for: They have to go to an auction and buy all of Vlad the Impaler's old things, just in case something is cursed.

And what do you know? Something is. The collection includes a very old ventriloquist dummy named Vladdy, and, as soon as the auctioneer sticks his hand into the Vladdy, the dummy possesses the man and flies away, the auctioneer dangling by his arm.

Meanwhile, Lacey questions neighbor Joe 90 about Noser. Joe 90 happens to have seen Noser just that morning on the building's surveillance cameras, meeting a strange eastern European woman who was carrying a mysterious silver briefcase.

Across town, the Middleman and Wendy question a previous owner of Vladdy, who tells them that, on the night Vlad the Impaler was to marry wife Elizabeth, villagers killed them both. But their blood fell upon their two favorite puppets, imprinting their souls into the wood for all time. And if Vladdy and his bride-to-be marry on the arms of two people who share true love, they'll regain the form of flesh and create an undead army to plunge Earth into an eternal night of blood.

Luckily, Elizabeth's puppet, Lizzie, is in the Middleman archives. Unluckily, the Middleman and Wendy aren't fast enough to stop Vladdy from escaping with Lizzie.

MM and Dub Dub track the two puppets to a ventriloquism contest. Coincidentally, Lacey tracks Noser to the very same place. Apparently, Noser was a master ventriloquist when younger -- but he gave it all up for music. Suddenly in need of rent money, Noser's returned to the ventriloquism game to win the big prize and pay off Pip.

But Noser has to take a backseat to the danger at hand when Lizzie possesses Lacey. Vladdy threatens to kill Lacey if the Middleman doesn't wear Vladdy on his arm. Which is the very moment Wendy realizes that Lacey and her boss truly are in love.

The Middleman leaves it to Wendy to thwart the eternal night of blood and puts Vladdy on his hand. Wendy tries to stop her puppet-controlled boss and roomie, but Vladdy has created a horde of vampire-puppet minions to slow her down. While Wendy fights them off, Vladdy/MM and Lizzie/Lacey find a chapel.

Middleman and Lacey kiss passionately, and soon Vlad and Elizabeth take their human forms. But they're not human for more than a few seconds before Wendy arrives and stakes them both ... killing them and saving her boss and Lacey.

In the end, Noser wins his rent money, Lacey realizes her Pip dream was just misplaced Middleman lust, and Wendy accepts that her boss and her roomie love each other. Which is why she confronts the Middleman about it. He's the man who, just one episode ago, gave her a rousing speech about the ability to love despite their job -- yet he won't step up and date Lacey.

The Middleman tells Wendy she's right ... but Lacey isn't the onlywoman he loves.
