After spending their summer vacations apart, Cassie and Charles meet for some quality alone time in Cassie's room. But their happy reunion is cut short when three intruders break into the house. One of them, Cydelle, holds a serious grudge against the Suttons. She's also hell-bent on finding something her late grandmother left in the house.
Thanks to a concerned neighbor, the cops show up, but the situation just escalates. Cassie and Charles find a secret attic to hide in, but before long the intruders find them and take them hostage. With the SWAT team waiting for a signal, things are about to get out of hand when Eddie and Jenn arrive on the scene.
Disobeying orders and risking his job and his life, Eddie sneaks into the house. Staring down the barrel of a gun and looking into the eyes of hate, Eddie manages to see past it all. He listens to Cydelle's stories about her family's good times in the house – before the money ran out and times got ugly. He reasons with her and she puts down her gun.
Walking into the sunlight, safe and sound, Eddie, Cassie, and Charles know how close they came to disaster. Another crisis averted. But Eddie is left to wonder again if he and his family can spend another day in Lincoln Heights.
