A natural-born comedian with credits that include movies, TV, stand-up, and theatre ("Charlie's Angels," "Samantha Who?," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," and a regular spot in L.A.'s "Groundlings" improv group), Melissa McCarthy first made her mark doing comedy at the Improv. But, like her GG character, this girl is a multi-tasker. So she studied dramatic acting to balance her comedy skills, and it's been going great on both fronts. Every girl needs a best friend, and that's what talented but ditzy Sookie is for Lorelai. Obsessed with her cooking, Sookie's been known to chase down restaurant reviewers, hover over diners, and cater kids' birthday parties with food fit for a king.
