Like Lorelai, Lauren Graham seems to be able to do it all, from comedies ("Seinfeld," "Caroline in the City,") to dramas ("Law & Order," "One True Thing") and whatever's in between, like "Gilmore Girls." She earned her English degree at Columbia's Barnard College and then went on to do an MFA at Southern Methodist University. Raised by her father in Northern Virginia, she thought she'd grow up to be a jockey, but fate was cruel. She got way too tall and had to give up her equestrian dreams. So she settled for stardom. If you can talk fast and think fast and always have a quip and are clearly liberal though your parents are stodgy old-school Republicans and you had a baby when you were only 16 and raised her on your own to become a wonderful, talented, beautiful kid and now your dream of owning an inn might just happen and one day, maybe some day, you might just figure out this whole thing with men, well then, your name must be Lorelai Gilmore.
