six degrees of 'harry potter'

Posted May 5, 2008

Here's a magic trick for you. Find the six degrees of separation between "Harry Potter" stars. Sure, they're all in the "Harry Potter" movies, but see if you can follow this other set of connections ....

Rupert Grint was in "Driving Lessons" with Julie Walters, who was in "Becoming Jane" with Maggie Smith, who was in "David Copperfield" with Daniel Radcliffe, who was in "The Tailor of Panama" with Brendan Gleeson, who was in "In Bruges" with Ralph Fiennes, who was in "The Miracle Maker" with Miranda Richardson, who was in "Damage" with David Thewlis, who was in "The Singing Detective" with Michael Gambon, who was in "Ghosts" with Kenneth Branagh, who was in "Henry V" with Robbie Coltrane, who was in a lot of stuff with Emma Thompson, including her variety series "Thompson."

Deep breath. Almost there ....

Emma Thompson was in "Love Actually" with Alan Rickman, who was in "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" with Timothy Spall, who was in "Remembrance" with Gary Oldman, who was in that movie about that English playwright with Julie Walters, who ... brings us back to Rupert Grint. Phew.

Linking all these "Harry Potter" stars proves one thing. It's Harry Potter's world. We just live in it.

Can you think of any other "Harry Potter" star links?

I think my favorite Harry Potter is the Sorcerer's Stone. The effects in all of them are awesome, though.
