the sound of music
One of the most beloved movie musicals of all time, "The Sound of Music" tells the story of the beautiful, spirited Maria (Julie Andrews, "Enchanted") and the family whose lives she changes forever. It begins as the young Maria is studying to become a nun, but her willful ways don't go over too well at the convent. The Mother Superior will have none of it, so she sends Maria to work as a governess for the seven Von Trapp children. The unruly brood has scared away every governess they've ever had, and they're determined to do the same to Maria. Much to their surprise, she proves to be different, and suddenly the Von Trapp household is filled with music and joy. Even their grumpy yet dashing father, Captain Von Trapp (Christopher Plummer, "Must Love Dogs"), falls under Maria's spell, and the two fall in love. But their idyllic world is threatened when war breaks out. The Von Trapps must make a daring escape and prove that love really does conquer all. (1965)
