What if Princesses are real? Not the kind who are really great shoppers -- we're talking about the kind who wear tiaras and gowns and can talk to little birdies and squirrels. What if they're real, and what if you got the chance to meet one -- to be surrounded by the aura of glamour and fantasy and goodness that comes with the whole Princess package?

William Humphries is about to find out, in a way that will change his life forever.

A former golden boy who's rudderless, unemployed, and in the middle of a quarter-life crisis, William (Kip Pardue, "Remember the Titans") accompanies a friend to a charity event hosted by the mysterious Princess Ithaca (Nora Zehetner, "Heroes," "Brick"). She's an eccentric, the subject of local legends, and seen out in public only once a year, always in sparkling tiara and fairy Princess gown.

William is already in awe at the magnificent castle grounds, but nothing prepares him for meeting Ithaca. Later that evening, they share a dance, and as they stare into each other's eyes, Ithaca asks William to come to the castle the next day – so they can talk in private. With that, she dashes off into the night (crystal slippers still on her feet, by the way).

In truth, and at the core of our story, Princess Ithaca thinks he's her Searcher -- the man who will help her on her Quest. William, not knowing that he is in fact destined to help her and her magical cause, pursues her romantically because he's falling in love not only with her sincerity and innocence but also with the mystery that surrounds her and her castle.

Witness to this whirlwind of romance and confused agendas is Ithaca's old advisor and friend Nana, who is fiercely suspicious of William and his motives. Nana will play a very big part in our little fairy tale.

What we'll discover is that the beautiful Ithaca is a real-life magical Princess -- from the fairy gowns she wears to the bluebirds that perch on her shoulder, she's the real deal. After a visit to her castle, where he witnesses the impossible, William learns Ithaca is the healer of all the sick and frightened mythical creatures of the world, from unicorns and mermaids, to things with big teeth and a tendency to go bump in the night.

But Princess Ithaca's term as healer is coming to an end, and she's losing her power to communicate with the exotic menagerie. Some of these creatures are dangerous on a good day ... and lately, the days have not been good at all. The Searcher's job – the job she thinks William is performing – is to help her find the next generation's healer – the next Princess to whom Ithaca will pass the torch. But there's a time limit on the search. And if the deadline passes, all will be lost -- no more magical creatures, no more Princess and the saddest loss of all -- no more true love.
