robbie coltrane
One of Britain's most popular comedians, Robbie Coltrane has been in dozens of TV shows and movies. Aside from playing Hagrid in the Harry Potter films (rumor has it he was personally selected for the role by author J.K. Rowling), Robbie is probably best known for starring in the critically acclaimed English series "Cracker." His role as Russian mobster Valentin Zukovsky in the James Bond film "GoldenEye" was so popular, he was brought back for "The World Is Not Enough." His other work includes "Ocean's Twelve," "Nuns on the Run," and "Van Helsing," in which he plays a not-so-lovable giant. A gentle giant, or at least half-giant, Hagrid has a heart as big as he is. He's Harry's first friend in the wizarding world. The school's gamekeeper and, later, Care of Magical Creatures teacher, he's always there when Harry, Hermione, and Ron need him -- ready with a cup of tea in his cottage at the edge of the Forbidden Forest. He has a weakness for mythical creatures -- the more dangerous, it seems, the better. His eccentric nature and dubious bloodline make him unpopular with the upper crust, such as the Malfoys, but Hagrid has a noble soul that makes him a true giant among men.
