Known as "The Great Gambon" in the London theater world, Michael Gambon has also had an incredible film and television career. He's won the BAFTA award (the British equivalent of the Academy Award®) four times -- for his roles in "The Singing Detective," "Wives and Daughters," "Longitude," and "Perfect Strangers." He was nominated for an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his star turn as President Lyndon Johnson in the TV movie "Path to War," and he shared a Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Cast for "Gosford Park." Among the more than 100 films and TV shows he's been in are the hit miniseries "Maigret," in which he played the title role, plus such movies as "The Insider," "Charlotte Gray," "Ali G Indahouse," and "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou." He'll also soon be seen in "Brideshead Revisited" (PG-13), and "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" (not yet rated). Harry's beloved mentor and headmaster of Hogwarts, Dumbledore is one of the most powerful wizards who ever lived. Yet his kind eyes and easy smile reveal a gentle heart. Wise beyond compare, Dumbledore is Harry's guardian against the evils in the world, but even he can't protect Harry from everything. He guides Harry as best he can, but there's a lot he can't -- or won't -- share with him. Dumbledore has seen a lot in his long life, but, like every great teacher, he realizes there are some lessons a pupil must learn for himself -- no matter how dangerous they are.
