One of Britain's most popular actors -- and most recognizable voices -- Alan Rickman has been in dozens of movies. He first came to the attention of American audiences as the icy terrorist in "Die Hard." Since then, he's appeared in tons of other films. He played a nasty judge in "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street," a cheating husband in "Love Actually," a brave suitor in "Sense and Sensibility," and a sentimental ghost in "Truly, Madly, Deeply." His other work includes "Galaxy Quest," "Something the Lord Made," "Dogma," and the upcoming "We're Here to Help" (not yet rated) and "The Villa Golitsyn" (not yet rated). With his stringy, ink-black hair and permanent scowl, Professor Snape cuts quite the gloomy figure. He's the head of Slytherin House and the Potions teacher at Hogwarts. What he's NOT is a fan of Harry's. In fact, he seems to resent the young wizard from the moment he arrives at school. Snape sees Harry as arrogant and reckless, but there are secrets in the professor's past that explain those feelings. Snape is full of secrets, actually -- and that makes Harry and his friends mistrust him. But for some reason, Dumbledore does trust Snape. Only time will tell if that trust is misplaced.
