Claire (Emma Roberts) and Hailey (Joanna 'JoJo' Levesque) are best friends on a mission: They want to stop Hailey's mom from moving across the world to Australia, so they come up with a plan. Actually, it's more like a spell. Suddenly, a powerful storm hits their seaside town and, to Claire and Hailey's amazement, something -- or someone -- washes ashore. Her name is Aquamarine (Sara Paxton), and she's a mermaid with a problem. She has just three days to find love, or her father will make her go through with an arranged marriage. In exchange for helping her, Aquamarine will grant Claire and Hailey a wish. They know just the wish they want, so they set their sights on helping Aquamarine nab Raymond (Jake McDorman), the cutest guy in town. Unfortunately, Cecilia, the meanest girl in town, already has dibs. The girls have their work cut out for them, but along the way, Aquamarine learns about love, and Claire and Hailey learn what it really means to be best friends.
