faq

1
What's new on abcfamily.com?
A whole lot of cool new stuff -- and we still have the stuff you're used to seeing. For a good overview of what's new, visit our What's New page to find out about profiles, blogs, embeds, widgets, and more!

If you have questions about profiles, commenting, registration, other technical issues, or your member name and password, please check our Help page.
2
When are your shows coming out on DVD?
You can buy "Kyle XY," "Wildfire," "Beautiful People," and "Falcon Beach" on DVD at many retailers, such as Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com.
3
Can I watch your shows anywhere else or on-demand?
Sure! Check out iTunes for episodes of "Greek," "Fallen," "Lincoln Heights," "Slacker Cats," and "Three Moons Over Milford."
4
When will you air new episodes of shows that aren't on-air now?
"Wildfire," "Greek," and "Kyle XY" will all be returning in early 2008.
5
What's the deal with "Gilmore Girls"?
ABC Family has the rights to seasons 1-6, and we continue to air all of those episodes.
6
Where can I see the ABC Family schedule?
The ABC Family daily and weekly schedule can be found on this site's Schedule page or via your local listings. You can also visit our Shows and Movies sections to find out more about our programming and airtimes.
7
What kind of movies do you show?
We air movies that we think fit our audience's tastes: all kinds of comedies, plus love stories, fantasies, select classics, and more. Many are original movies created exclusively for ABC Family. To find out about what's airing soon on ABC Family, visit our Movies section.
8
Where can I send fan mail to your stars?
You can send all your fan letters to ABC Family, 500 South Buena Vista St., Burbank, CA 91521-6078. Write the show's name and the actor or actress you want to reach on the outside of the envelope. We cannot promise that anyone will respond to your note, but we will make every effort to ensure that it reaches the intended recipient.
9
How do your sweepstakes and contests work?
You can read all about each of our sweepstakes and contests in their individual rules sections. If you still have questions after you've read all about it, send your questions to the sweepstakes administrator, whose name and contact info you'll find listed in the rules.
10
What is Twitter and why is it on your site?
Twitter is a newish web-based application that helps you stay in touch and keep up with friends no matter where you are or what you're doing. For some friends you might want instant mobile updates — for others, you can just check the web. We have Twitter widgets for each of our shows, so you can keep up with the latest happenings from our shows with the Twitter widget, or by joining the group on the Twitter page. For more info, see www.twitter.com.
11
Where did the online forums go?
We traded in our old-fashioned forums for a whole bunch of bright, shiny comment spaces. They're in the main site, so your comments are integrated with the content itself. Got something to say about "Kyle XY"? Say it in the "Kyle XY" comments area, and everyone can see what you have to say -- along with your picture or avatar and screen name. Now, when fans have conversations, everyone can check out what's going on and jump in.
12
What's new about the video on this site?
There's a whole lot more of it, for starters. And our new video player is cooler than ever, with more clips and features. For instance, now you can share clips with friends via email, embed our clips on your blog or site, and bookmark our videos on Facebook, digg, or del.icio.us. One of our fave new features is that now you can find all our new videos in one place.
13
I live outside the U.S. Why can't I watch full episodes in the video player?
Our full-length show episodes aren't available to viewers outside the U.S. It's a legal thing, and we can't do anything about it. We're sorry!

If you're in the U.S. and can't watch full episodes in the ABC Family Video Player, please let us know. Go to the Feedback page, select "Technical" under "other" in the topics pulldown menu, and describe the problem. We'll look into your issue right away.
14
What is a Viewing Party and how does it work?
The ABC Family Viewing Party allows fans to watch full-length ABC family shows online with DVR controls while chatting with other fans in the same interface. You can invite up to 10 friends to a "private" party, or you can join open parties. The party host controls the remote.

The ABC Family Viewing Party runs on the "LYCOS Cinema" platform and is readily accessible via IE, Safari, and Firefox browsers on PCs and Macs.
15
How do your widgets work, and can I install them on my desktop?
Our widgets let you get the best of our shows on your own site, blog, or Facebook page. They don't work on your desktop like some widgets do, because they're designed to work on web pages. You just copy our widget code and paste it into your own page code, and presto -- you've got the hookup for a fresh supply of new video, stills, and more from the shows you adore. Or like a lot.
16
What is an ARG?
An ARG, or Alternate Reality Game, is an immersive, interactive gaming experience that may use the real world in addition to various online components, such as video, text, websites, skill- or plot/knowledge-based challenges, etc. Abcfamily.com has two ARGS: the Emmy® award-winning Ocular Effect, which is inspired by "Fallen," and ClueTracker, which is interwoven with the on-air narrative of "Kyle XY." These two ARGs are very different from each other, and their stories don't intersect or overlap.

You keep promising more cool new features. Like what?
Don't you believe in surprises? Well, we can't let the cat out of the bag, but believe us when we tell you this site is in a state of constant evolution. As soon as we get one set of innovations working, we're prepping more new coolness to make this the best site we can. Like they say on TV, stay tuned!

Better still, sign up for our newsletter, and you'll be among the first to know what's new on abcfamily.com.
